Car manufacturer Toyota has revealed a number of upgrades to its Derbyshire-built Corolla for 2022.

The firm, which produces the Corolla at its Burnaston plant, has opened the order books on the revised models, with customer deliveries set to commence early next year.

The 2022 Corollas will feature new trims, colours – and a special new version of the Corolla Trek Touring Sports will be available.

The 2022 Corollas will be fitted with the new Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system.

With a more powerful processing capacity than the current system, the eight-inch, high-definition central touchscreen gives instant access to a series of smart connected services, including cloud-based navigation with continuous, “always on” traffic information, 3D city mapping, highway signage and fixed traffic camera locations.

New colours are being introduced for the Corolla range, with the addition of platinum white pearl and silver metallic. These will also be available in a bi-tone combination for the hatchback.

The saloon will feature a new 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheel design with a bright machined finish.

Toyota is extending its partnership with bicycle manufacturer TREK Bikes, a partnership that has seen the hybrid electric Corolla Touring Sports doing regular service as team cars for the TREK-Segafredo pro-cycling team.

With the relationship set to continue through to December 2022, Toyota is introducing a new Corolla Trek Special Edition model, offering a higher specification.

Upgrades include a more powerful Trek exterior look, with the ride height raised by 20mm, wheel arch mouldings and front and rear under-runs.

The special edition will also feature new-design 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome door window frames, while the cabin will feature piano black door handles, black leather upholstery and a satin chrome deco line across the instrument panel and front doors.

In a statement, Toyota said: “Corolla has a great heritage with more than 50 million sales worldwide.

“But it never relies on past achievements to succeed. Instead, Toyota’s principle of continuous improvement ensures that through appealing upgrades, Corolla can continue to fulfil its role as the perfect partner for customers’ everyday lives.”
