Street food and events venue goes into extra time

Street food and events venue Bustler Market has been granted a temporary extension at its current base, which is earmarked for redevelopment.

The business, located within The Chocolate Factory, in Siddals Road, has been granted a short-term extension following ongoing discussions with developers and local government representatives.

The extension, though limited in duration, provides vital breathing space for Bustler Market and The Chocolate Factory as the area prepares for future redevelopment under a Compulsory Purchase Order.

According to Bustler, Derby South MP Baggy Shanker, confirmed the positive development after speaking directly with Compendium Living, which is delivering the £100 million regeneration of Castleward.

Bustler Market has become a key feature of Derby’s events and hospitality scene, drawing thousands of visitors with its events, street food vendors and community atmosphere.

For the past four years, The Chocolate Factory has provided the setting for the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards – and will do so again this October.

Welcoming the news, Olivia Pritchard, co-founder of Bustler Market, said: “This extension, even if temporary, is a testament to the vital role Bustler plays in Derby’s community life.

“Our goal has always been to remain part of Derby’s growth story, and this gives us a little more time to explore long-term solutions.”
