Sadler Gate memories sought for street party

The Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District is appealing for photographs of Sadler Gate in bygone days so they can be displayed at a forthcoming street party event.

The party, which will celebrate the history of Sadler Gate, is due to take place on Saturday 16 July.

The BID is now after pictures from down the years when Sadler Gate used to host wheelbarrow races and eating challenges. It is also after nostalgic snaps that include old businesses in Sadler Gate.

July’s event celebrates ‘Everything Sadler Gate’ and will include DJ’s, music, food, drink, face painting and dancing – with the celebrations stretching right into the evening.

Martin Langsdale, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID, said: “The BID wanted to celebrate Sadler Gate and create an event that welcomes visitors to the area.

“No doubt, people will love seeing all the old photographs displayed on Sadler Gate and will enjoy the bustling party atmosphere.”
