Rotary Club urges Bondholders to back shoebox appeal

The Rotary Club of Derby is urging fellow Marketing Derby Bondholders to back an appeal to donate shoeboxes filled with gifts for children living in poverty in Eastern Europe.
The annual shoebox campaign is part of a national appeal run by the charity Teams4U.

Last year, The Rotary Club of Derby collected 3,110 shoeboxes from across the city out of a national total of more than 60,000.
The shoeboxes were donated by schools, churches, businesses and individuals.
They were collected by the Rotary Club and taken to a local warehouse, where a team of about 20 people checked the contents of the boxes.
They then packed them for transport by lorry to Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, Georgia and Bosnia.
Once they arrived in their respective countries, they were delivered individually to children living in poor communities and orphanages.
Last year, Marketing Derby Bondholders contributed by attending a launch event in the River Mill in Darley Abbey where the Rotary Club asked them to donate shoeboxes full of gifts suitable for young boys and girls.
That year, warehouse space was kindly donated by a fellow Bondholder.
In a statement, the Rotary Club of Derby, said: “If your company can help Rotary this year by encouraging your teams to donate a box, or by offering some urgently needed warehouse space during October and November, they would really appreciate your help.”
