Rolls-Royce lands major engine deal as airline orders new aircraft
Rolls-Royce has welcomed an airline’s decision to order new aircraft powered by its engines.
SAS has placed an order for 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft, powered by 40 Trent 7000 engines.
It is the first SAS order for A330neo aircraft, which are exclusively powered by the Trent 7000.
The transaction also includes 10 A330neo purchase rights to provide flexibility for the airline to realise future growth opportunities.

Rob Watson, president of civil aerospace at Rolls-Royce, which has its civil aerospace division in Derby, said: “We are delighted that SAS has made their first order for A330neo aircraft.
“This order reflects the strength of our technology and our valued partnership – especially meaningful as SAS marks its 80th anniversary this year — and we are proud to support SAS at this significant milestone in their journey.
“The Trent 7000 delivers outstanding efficiency and sustainability benefits, and SAS can be confident in the reliability and support for their fleet.”
Anko van der Werff, president and chief executive of SAS, said: “We are proud to announce our first order for the A330neo, marking an exciting new chapter for SAS.
“We look forward to welcoming this next-generation aircraft to our fleet and benefitting from the enhanced efficiency and environmental performance of the Trent 7000 engine.
“This investment underlines our commitment to offer the most reliable and efficient service to our customers.”
