Derby City Council is set to make a ‘reuse’ shop at its Raynesway recycling centre permanent.

The Reuse Raynesway shop will become a permanent feature from Saturday 16 August.

Located at Raynesway Household Waste and Recycling Centre, the shop offers residents a chance to buy good-quality second-hand items at low prices – helping people save money while reducing waste.

Originally launched as a series of successful pop-up events in spring 2024, the shop is being made a permanent fixture thanks to strong public interest and community support.

Councillor Ndukwe Onuoha, the city council’s cabinet member for Streetpride, public safety and leisure, said: “This is much more than just a shop – it’s about supporting families during tough times, reducing our impact on the planet and making reuse a normal part of everyday life.

“The public response to the pop-ups was brilliant, and the permanent shop gives us a chance to build on that momentum. It’s a practical, positive way we can all make a difference.”
