Rail operator to increase Intercity timetable
East Midlands Railway has announced plans to increase its Intercity timetable this month, taking a further significant step towards restoring its full planned service.
Following the introduction of a temporary reduced timetable in July, the firm, which is operated by Transport UK, increased its Intercity operation from 87% to 92% of the full planned timetable from Tuesday 1 September.
This increase was supported by improved operational stability across EMR’s Intercity fleet.
Since the introduction of the 92% timetable, EMR has continued to work with its partners to improve fleet reliability and ensure the resilience needed to operate additional services safely and consistently.
This continued improvement has given EMR greater confidence to increase its Intercity operation from 92% to 96% of the full planned timetable from Monday, 19 October.
Neil Grabham, interim managing director at East Midlands Railway, said: “We know how important reliable Intercity services are to the communities, businesses and customers we serve.
“The restoration of these additional services, including more weekday and weekend options, will provide greater choice and flexibility for those travelling to and from London.”
