Property giant Grainger has announced a new partnership, which has the potential to create thousands of homes on brownfield sites across the country.

The firm, which is the company behind The Condor – Derby’s first ever build-to-rent apartments scheme – has teamed up with Network Rail and Bloc Group.

Known as the blocwork joint venture, it will see Network Rail bring forward sites for build-to-rent from its property portfolio, taking the schemes through the planning process, with Grainger actively involved in design proposals.

Once approval is granted, Grainger will forward fund the scheme and ultimately own and operate completed developments.

Chief executive Helen Gordon said: “This partnership supports Grainger’s ambitious growth plans and provides access to superbly located and well-connected sites.”

The announcement coincides with the publication of Grainger’s full-year results, which showed “an outstanding year of record delivery and a strong performance” where about 1,200 homes were completed.
