Novel opportunity to help book festival

Derby Book Festival is calling on the Bondholder community to find a finance expert who can help keep the charity in good financial health.

The charity, which brings leading authors and speakers to Derby while supporting thousands of children and families through its year-round literacy and community programmes, is looking for an experienced finance professional to take on the voluntary role.

Organisers are particularly keen to hear from financial controllers, finance directors and senior accountants who would like to use their professional experience to support one of Derby’s leading cultural charities.

The new treasurer will help oversee the festival’s finances and advise fellow trustees on areas including cash-flow forecasting, financial planning and management reporting.

Day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll are already handled externally, meaning the successful candidate will be able to concentrate on the bigger financial picture and support the charity plan for the future.

Jamie Jordan, chair of the board of trustees at Derby Book Festival, said: “Derby Book Festival is a true regional success story, delivering literacy and wellbeing programmes across our schools and communities throughout the year.

“We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional who can bring their commercial knowledge to our board and help us plan ahead, manage cash flow and make the most of the resources we have.”
