New live music festival set to take over city centre
A new live music festival is set to take over the city centre later this year supported by a number of Marketing Derby Bondholder venues.
Invention Music Festival is a brand-new event, which will feature over 40 live acts, performing across six city centre spaces, including Dubrek Studios, Down to Earth Derby’s Electric Daisy and Derby City Council’s Chapel Street Arts Centre.
Taking place on Saturday 19 September, the event will transform the city centre into a buzzing hub of live music, spanning multiple independent venues for a one-day-only celebration of raw talent and creative collaboration.
The full line-up of artists is due to be announced later this month.
Organisers promise an ‘eclectic, genre-defying mix’, ranging from underground punk, metal and rock to electronic experimentation, psych-folk, and intimate acoustic storytelling.

Ticket holders will be able to access all six venues during the day to see live performances, including: The Hairy Dog, The Wardwick, Electric Daisy, Dubrek Studios, Mr Shaw’s House, Chapel Street Arts Centre and busking stops hosted by Furthest from the Sea.
Supported by Arts Council England, the Music Venue Trust and Gigantic, the festival is a direct partnership with Derby’s independent scene.
In a statement, the Invention organising team said: “We wanted to build something real for Derby.
“Invention is co-created with the city’s incredible independent venues and creators.
“We’re swapping mega-stages for intimate venues where music fans can feel the music. It’s about community, exploration, and supporting grassroots music.”
To reward early supporters, a limited number of ‘early bird’ tickets are available now for just £20.
Once these are gone, standard tier tickets will rise to £30.
