The Public Protection Team, made up of the City Safer Neighbourhood Team, Special Constables and Police Cadets. as well as officers from the city council has moved into Riverside Chambers, in Full Street.

This high-profile move is part of the city council’s effort to help reduce anti-social behaviour, crime, and disorder in the city and ensure that those who live, visit or work in the city feel safe and protected.

As well as accommodating 25 officers, it will provide a base for those carrying out their Police Constable Degree Apprenticeships (PCDA), as well as Policing and Criminology students from the University of Derby.

Councillor Matthew Eyre, the city council’s cabinet member for place and community development, said: “The decision to relocate our Public Protection service was driven by our ambition to provide a safer and more resilient Derby city.

“The opportunity to work side by side with Derbyshire Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams and operate from the heart of the city will strengthen our ability to deliver this service.”
