Compendium Living, the regeneration specialist behind Derby’s £100 million Castleward project, has announced the appointment of a new managing director.

Bruce Lister, who has nearly 40 years of experience in the residential development and regeneration sectors, has taken on the role following the retirement of Dave Bullock.

Dave has been at the helm of Compendium, which is jointly owned by developer Lovell and housing association Riverside, since 2005.

He has worked in housing, development and regeneration for almost 40 years – and since establishing Compendium Living, has steered the company through large-scale, long-term regeneration schemes, including the mixed-use Castleward project.

Castleward involves creating a community of 800 new homes, green space and 35,000 sq ft of commercial retail space.

Work on Phase 3 of the scheme is now underway, following the successful completion of the previous two phases.

Dave said: “For well over a decade now, I’ve had the pleasure of overseeing a number of complex transformation projects from start to finish, turning declining areas into thriving new communities.

“I’m extremely proud of all that Compendium Living has achieved since I joined the company, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and dedication over the years.

“I’m very sad to be leaving but have every faith that Bruce will keep the company moving forward and continue our new legacy.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all that he accomplishes and wish him the very best of luck.”

Bruce joins Compendium Living from Lovell Partnerships, where he was a regional regeneration director for the north-west.

During his time at Lovell, he set up and managed a number of major regeneration projects, including the development of just under 2,000 new homes in Manchester and Wirral.

In his new role, he will oversee Compendium Living’s growth as a regeneration and placemaking specialist and develop ongoing and future projects.

He said: “I am delighted to join Compendium Living and take on this challenging yet exciting new role.

“Dave has done an incredible job over the years of creating a sterling reputation for the business, and I am keen to add my own expertise.

“Compendium Living will continue to regenerate neighbourhoods, providing more communities with developments of much-needed new homes and sustainable public spaces.”
