Mezzo serves an ace at world qualifiers

Healthy eatery Mezzo has branched out into on-site catering after its first booking proved to be a smash hit.

Thanks to an introduction made by Marketing Derby, the Pride Park-based business provided the catering for the recently held Padel World Championship qualifiers, which took place at the new We Are Padel facility nearby.

Mezzo cooked up a storm at the event, which attracted Europe’s top Padel players, with a pop-up version of its buffet bowl service, which is a daily staple of the menu in its Pride Park restaurant.

Owner Skevy Ioannides said: “I was slightly apprehensive at first, as we have never done anything off-site previously, but we very quickly found our feet and served over 600 people across the three days.

“These guys are elite athletes and are looking for really clean eating, which we were perfectly placed to provide.

“At one point, the line was over 50 deep and we had to introduce a barriered queuing system.

“Now we have this first event under our belt, we are open to providing catering to other events, be that pre-paid for a certain number of guests or selling directly to the public.

“We invested in specialist kit for this project which brings more opportunities.”
