Lofty accolade for family-run business

More Than Loft Ladders has been recognised for the second year running as a leading light in the loft storage industry by a panel of judges.

The family-run firm, which covers the Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield areas as part of a national franchise network, was recently named Loft Specialists of the Year in the Corporate Livewire Central England Prestige Awards 2022.

The awards recognise small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months.

All shortlisted companies were asked to show evidence of the quality of their work and positive feedback from their clients.

Business owner Liam Hobbs and his wife Kelly were presented with the award by Osmaan Mahmood, chief executive of the Prestige Awards, who commended the company on their high levels of customer service and feedback.

Mr Hobbs, who set up the company in 2013 and heads up an eight-strong team including his wife and daughter, said: “Customer service and positive feedback is the lifeblood of any business nowadays and particularly those which are smaller family-run companies.

“We rely heavily on personal referrals and word of mouth marketing, but positive online reviews and rankings are vital as, people, quite rightly, do their homework online before trusting you with taking on an important job in their home.

“Winning this award for the second year running is therefore testament to the on-going quality of our work and that, even though we continue to expand, to our commitment to family business values.”

Mr Hobbs said that loft conversions were in increasing popular demand due to soaring energy costs.

He said: “As the name suggests – we are more than a loft ladder company.
“Although this is obviously an important feature, we also install hatches, part or full loft boarding insultation, lighting and smoke alarms to transform dark and forgotten lofts into usable space.

“Post lockdown, the biggest motivation for householders was to create extra room or additional storage space having spent so much time at home and wanting as much space as they could.

“Now, people increasingly recognise that much of the heat in their homes disappears through the roof and that, by better insulating their loft, they can have extra space and potentially better heating efficiency.”
