Staff from Ashgates IT are set to take part in the Derby 10k to raise money for a charity set up in honour of a five-year-old boy who died from a rare condition.

The five-strong team from the managed IT support and cybersecurity specialists are taking part in the event on 24 March to raise money for Sam’s Superheroes.

The charity was set up in memory of Sam, who passed away in 2021 at the age of just five-years-old from the exceptionally rare Febrile Infection Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES).

Established by Sam’s mum Rachel, the charity funds and carries out emotional well-being activities centred around kindness and her son’s love of animals, crafting, outdoors, music and nature.

As part of its activities, Sam’s dog Daisy, who has been trained as a therapy dog, visits local organisations and schools on behalf of Sam’s Superheroes.

The charity also tries to raise awareness of FIRES.
