Commercial insurance and risk management firm Aston Lark has acquired a corporate healthcare specialist.

The firm, which is currently backed by Goldman Sachs but soon to become part of Howden, has acquired a Leicestershire-based Phoenix Healthcare.

Phoenix was established in 1996 in Oadby by Paul Wright and Lee Shorter, who each have more than 35 years’ experience in corporate healthcare.

Peter Blanc, chief executive at Aston Lark, said: “When I first met Paul and Lee, it was clear that they share the same client service ethos as Aston Lark.

“We’re becoming a real powerhouse in private medical insurance, and I’m delighted to welcome Paul, Lee and their team to the Aston Lark family.”

Back in October, a deal was agreed for Aston Lark to join international insurance broking group Howden from Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Bowmark Capital.

Aston Lark has its Derby office at The Incora County Ground, which is the home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
