Derby High School is celebrating a “fantastic” set of A level results achieved by its students.

The independent school saw 78% of A level grades at A\ to B, 52% at A*to A, and 26% at A.

In addition to their A levels, many students completed an Extended Project Qualification, which universities value highly for the independent skills developed in the process.

Exploring a diverse range of challenging topics, 80% of these students achieved an A* to B grade.

High grades have secured students places on a variety of highly competitive courses, ranging from medicine, economics, languages, engineering, maths and English literature, with the majority at Russell Group universities, including three at Oxbridge.

The school said the “unwavering dedication” of its staff played an integral role in nurturing a culture of excellence, supporting students to reach their full potential.

Earlier this year, the school received the highest possible ‘Excellent’ rating following a full inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

Head Amy Chapman said: “We are immensely proud of the achievements of our Year 13 students.

“These outstanding A Level results reflect the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and academic curiosity.

“But what truly sets this cohort apart is the way they have embraced the broader aspects of education – developing into well-rounded individuals equipped not only with exceptional academic skills but also with leadership qualities, effective teamworking abilities, and the confidence to speak in public.

“As they embark on this new chapter of their educational journey, we have every confidence that these bright young people will continue to shine and make a positive impact on the world.”
