Hospitals charity handed marathon boost

Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity is looking for runners to take part in next year’s London Marathon after being awarded a number of charity places for the event.

For the first time, the charity has been awarded places for the 2026 TCS London Marathon.

It is now inviting applications from individuals aged 18 or over, who would like to take on the iconic 26.2-mile challenge, while raising funds to support patients, families and staff across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

Successful applicants will be able to showcase a strong connection to the charity, a clear commitment to fundraising and a genuine enthusiasm for taking on the challenge.

Chief charity officer Jill Matthews said: “We are incredibly honoured to have been awarded these charity places for the London Marathon 2026.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, challenge themselves, and make a significant impact for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.”
