Hospital charity opens applications for marathon places

Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity has opened applications for its 2027 London Marathon charity places.

It is giving runners to chance to take part in the iconic 26.2-mile run on Sunday 25 April 2027 while raising funds to support local NHS patients, visitors and staff.

The charity has a limited number of places available and is inviting passionate and committed individuals to apply to join Team DBHC.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to choose where their fundraising makes an impact across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

Alternatively, funds can be directed to where the need is greatest, helping to enhance patient comfort and experience, fund advanced medical equipment, improve hospital environments, support community projects and enable innovative research and training.

The charity asks for a £100 registration fee and a minimum fundraising target of £2,500 (excluding Gift Aid).

Jill Matthews, chief officer of Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “This is an amazing opportunity to take on a once in a lifetime challenge while making a real difference to local patients, visitors and NHS staff.”
