TV presenter and architecture pundit Kevin McCloud has been helping with a competition run by Vaillant, which showcases the potential of its low carbon heating technology.

Launched earlier this year, the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge called on homeowners and heating installers across the country to share their heat pump projects in homes where the technology may, on the surface, not have seemed the most obvious option.

The aim of the competition is to showcase the true potential of the low carbon heating solution within different property types.

Now, two of the three winning entries have been announced, which demonstrate heat pumps are possible across a plethora of UK housing types.

They are a Cornish boathouse and a Grade II listed property in East Sussex.

Mr McCloud has since visited both properties to front videos about how Vaillant’s technology has been successfully applied.

With its UK headquarters in Belper, Vaillant offers customers energy-saving heating and hot water systems that increasingly make use of renewable energies.

Its product portfolio encompasses high-efficiency boilers, heat pumps and large output boilers for light commercial use, as well as a range of intelligent controls, hot water cylinders and accessories.

Earlier this year, the firm announced it was to open a new production site at St. Modwen Park Derby, a brand-new industrial scheme being built by St. Modwen Logistics.

Expected to be open in 2024, the 12,000 square metre unit, which will create more than 200 jobs, will allow Vaillant to meet the increasing demand for heat pumps.
