Food poverty charity salutes volunteers

Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance has held a special celebration event recognising the work of its volunteers.

The event saw the charity pay tribute to its volunteers, as well as those who support its 17 partner food projects across the city.

DF4TA’s team of around 100 volunteers support all aspects of the charity’s work, including staffing phones, working at its Central Storage Unit and community shops and making deliveries.

Their efforts have helped deliver more than 9,000 food parcels this year alone.

In a statement, the charity said: “The event was a simple ‘thank you’ and  included stories from the frontline, a light-hearted quiz and acknowledgements for the people behind the work.

“As we head into winter, their reliability and scale are what turn community generosity into consistent, citywide support.”
