Final mobility hub boosts sustainable travel

Derby City Council has announced the completion of the city’s final ‘mobility hub’ – putting the city firmly in the driving seat when it comes to sustainable travel.

The hub at the Prince Charles Avenue shopping precinct in Mackworth, brings the total number across the city to five.

Designed to enhance the local economy and draw more footfall to the shopping precinct, the Mackworth hub gives users access to EV charges, an Enterprise Car Club location, bike storage and interactive travel information.

The mobility hubs are funded by the Department for Transport’s Future Transport Zones Fund, which was awarded to the city council to trial new developments in transport.

Councillor Carmel Swan, the city council’s cabinet member for climate change, transport and sustainability, said: “The completion of the Mackworth hub marks the final piece of this project, delivering a cleaner, more connected Derby.

“This project is a fantastic example of our commitment to making it easier to choose public or active transport, reduce congestion on the roads, and play our part in combating climate change – making our city a better place to live, shop, and work for everyone.”
