Festival set to celebrate World Book Day
Derby Book Festival is inviting people to celebrate World Book Day at a special event, which will take place at Derby City Council’s Derby Market Hall.
The BIG Derby World Book Day Party, due to take place on Saturday 28 February, will feature authors, illustrators and storytellers and will offer opportunities for families to celebrate books together.

Every year children celebrate World Book Day in their schools. This year’s date is Thursday 5 March.
Following the success of Derby Book Festival’s first World Book Day Celebration last year, it will be staging activities aimed at children aged 0 to 12 to enjoy with their adults.
Festival director Sian Hoyle said: “World Book Day promotes a love of reading, encourages literacy and provides access to books for people of all ages and backgrounds.
“It is through events and reading initiatives that we can help to bridge literacy gaps and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of reading.”
Entry to the Market Hall is free but World Book Day workshops are ticketed and are now on sale. For more information and to book click here.
