Events and entertainment venue unveils new mural

Vaillant Live has installed a brand-new mural on its building designed by a local artist.

In September last year, the 3,500 capacity events and entertainment venue called on  artists from across Derby to create a big, bold, colourful design that represents the city’s vibrant and exciting community.

After shortlisting four finalists, Derby-based artist, Syahi, was selected as the winner for his incredible design, receiving £500 and two Premium Tickets to a show at Vaillant Live.

The design has now been installed at the back of the building in Becket Street.

Syahi recently visited the venue with his family and girlfriend to see his design brought to life – and have a tour of the venue.

He said: “My first thought was ‘oh my gosh!’. The mural is much bigger than when I first saw it being printed but seeing it up – and how vibrant it is – makes me feel very proud.

“The way I see it, this is for Derby. I really hope that when people pass it on the street, they feel a sense of being part of something bigger than themselves.”

“Syahi is incredibly talented and we’re so grateful that he has shared his brilliant design with us to make this spectacular mural.

“We really hope the people of Derby relate to it when walking past, and they’re as proud of it as we are.”
