Construction firm completes brickwork on own HQ building

Bowmer + Kirkland has completed the brickwork on a new office building at its Derbyshire headquarters.

Chairman Jack Kirkland laid the final brick alongside members of the company’s North Midlands and Yorkshire construction team, which is delivering the redevelopment at its High Edge Court base.

Representatives from specialist contractor Phoenix Brickwork also attended and presented Jack with an engraved trowel.

He said: “I was delighted to join the team and lay the final brick on what is a significant milestone for this project.

“I am proud to see our new head office taking shape, and I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment.

“Our project team and supply chain partners are doing an excellent job.”

The project will move to its next phase as the new office structure nears completion.

Planned work includes refurbishing the existing offices and demolishing the current reception and adjoining office building.

Replacement facilities will be delivered as part of the wider redevelopment, alongside extensive landscaping to improve the site’s external spaces.

High Edge Court opened in November 1989 and was officially unveiled by Jack’s grandmother, Louisa Kirkland.

Bowmer + Kirkland now employs 2,200 people across nine construction regions and its wider group of companies.

The privately owned construction and development group reports annual turnover of around £1.37 billion.
