College hails international success of young athlete
Derby College Group has hailed the performance of one of its students, who recently tasted success on the international stage.
In June, Caitlin Hadfield, a sports science student who attends the college’s Joseph Wright campus, earned selection for the Great Britain team at the prestigious Mannheim Juniors Gala.
Competing in the women’s 4x400m relay, Caitlin helped Team GB secure victory, with the team recording the second fastest time in the world.

It caps a season of progress for the sprinter, who has been steadily lowering her times over the past year and now holds a personal best of 55.48 seconds over 400m, set indoors at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield earlier this year.
Caitlin said: “It was so much fun, and I’m really happy with the result.”
She now has her sights set on building on this form as the season continues.
Hannah Eames, teacher of sport at Derby College Group, said: “This is a great achievement for Caitlin. She continues to progress and is a fantastic student.”
