A food packaging firm has agreed a deal with Clowes Developments for a new purpose-built warehouse and distribution facility in Derbyshire.

Catering24 has agreed to the bespoke build, which will see the state-of-the-art building constructed at Etiquette Park, off Manners Road Industrial Estate, in Ilkeston.

During the pandemic, the family-run firm adapted its business model by providing food packaging for takeaway and delivery. As a result, it has doubled its turnover in the past 18 months.

The deal marks significant expansion for Catering24 and is part of a £2.8 million investment, which includes equipment, racking and IT software.

A planning application for the 27,249 sq ft warehouse and office, which effectively doubles the firm’s capacity has been approved by Erewash Borough Council and work is expected to start on site within the next couple of weeks.

Clowes Developments has instructed TanRo to construct the facility.
