Building materials firms gets go-ahead for production site
Plans by an Italian building materials firm to open a major production site at an industrial park created by Verdant Regeneration, a partnership involving Ward Recycling, have been approved.
Fassa Bortolo has been granted permission to open the facility at Verdant’s New Stanton Park near Ilkeston, creating around 100 jobs.
The plant will manufacture approximately 300,000 tonnes of pre-mixed plasters and renders each year.
The new facility will include 30,000 sq ft of office space, a Fassa Academy training centre, and 140,000 sq ft of warehousing.
It forms part of a major investment programme across Fassa Bortolo’s international network of 21 production sites and nine commercial branches.
It is strengthening its presence in response to increasing demand for construction materials.

The 220-acre New Stanton Park site is undergoing redevelopment to support up to 4,000 jobs and 2.2 million sq ft of industrial space.
David Ward, from Verdant Regeneration, said: “We are thrilled that Fassa Bortolo can now proceed with their development.
“Fassa Bortolo is a prestigious international name, and their investment demonstrates the site’s growing reputation as a destination for modern industry.”
Bortolo Fassa, president of Fassa Bortolo, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce our new headquarters in the East Midlands.
“This investment in New Stanton Park is a strategic choice, dictated by growing demand for our high-quality solutions across the UK and our strong belief in the continued growth of the UK construction market.
“By expanding our specific product lines, we aim to bring our expertise closer to our customers and significantly strengthen our distribution network.”
