Book festival releases new podcast series

Derby Book Festival has released a series of podcasts recorded during its Summer Edition, which aim to bring people close together through reading.

The three Shared Reading podcasts feature authors including Claudia Hammond, Joanna Cannon, Patrick Gale and Bee Wilson, alongside volunteers and festival visitors exploring how reading brings people together.

Across the episodes, Shared Reading volunteer hosts Ellie and Steve explore the many ways that books and stories help us understand ourselves, connect with other people and see the world from a different perspective.

The conversations move from wellbeing, creativity and childhood reading to family memories, friendship, nature and cold-water

Tickets are due to go on sale for Derby Book Festival’s Autumn Edition in November – and it is looking for sponsorship so it can record and produce another episode during the event.

In a statement, Derby Book Festival said: “Supporting the episode would help bring authors, volunteers, readers and festival visitors together, creating something that people can enjoy long after the festival itself has ended.

“The team would be pleased to speak to interested businesses and organisations about the podcast and how their support could be recognised.”
