Streets in Derby city centre have been spruced up thanks to a collaboration between the Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter BIDs and Derby City Council.

Last week, as part of the Great British Spring Clean, which runs until 30 March, businesses in the area helped clean up the streets in both BID areas.

They were joined by the city council’s Streetpride team, local councillors and public protection officers.

The work included jet washing, picking up litter and removing chewing gum from pavements.

Brad Worley, the BID’s manager, said: “While we are aware that is the council’s responsibility to keep the city clean, as BIDs we were pleased to work together and get behind this national campaign.”

Councillor Hardyal Dhindsa, the city council’s cabinet member for communities and Streetpride, said: “It is fantastic to see our local businesses and volunteers taking to the streets to help make our city centre a cleaner and more attractive place to be.”
