The boss of Derby charity Disability Direct is urging fellow Bondholders to donate to an appeal for refugees from Afghanistan.

Amo Raju

As well as being chief executive of the charity, which supports disabled, older people and carers, Amo Raju is chairman of the Derby Asian Strategic Partnership, a new not-for-profit group, which aims to support and celebrate achievements within Derby’s Asian community.

However, recently developments in Afghanistan have steered the group toward raising funds for any refugees who may arrive in Derby.

Amo said: “It is our aim to hand over the final donation to local services on the frontline who will support via, housing, furniture, clothing and/or food or any other immediate need.

“I ask Bondholder members to make donations, as individuals or as businesses, to help collectively welcome frightened and vulnerable people into our fantastic city.”
