Derby team helping to deliver new NHS call centre

Architects Maber is leading a team, which includes Armsons and Rodgers Leask, who are delivering a new NHS 111 call centre on Derby’s Pride Park.

The firm’s Derby office, working on behalf of DHU Health Care, has successfully secured planning permission for the new centre and is currently working on the construction phase.

It is being supported by Armsons, which is providing quantity surveying services, along with structural engineers Rodgers Leask.

The call centre will be based in the 43,000 sq ft Orbis Building, which at one time was home to financial services firm EGG.



The Covid-19 pandemic drove demand on an already expanding NHS 111 service, with DHU being a vital provider of additional support during the pandemic.

According to Maber, DHU’s decision to be based on Pride Park was mainly due to great public transport links, allowing staff to be drawn in from a wider region.

Maber has been working to create a fit-for-purpose environment inside the Orbis Building in order to allow clinicians and call advisors to give patients the advice they need from a calm and comfortable setting.
