A leading figure at the University of Derby is set to join a panel discussion at the forthcoming Derby Property Summit.

Professor Kamil Omoteso, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dean of the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at the university, will be at the event, set to take place on Wednesday 14 July, which will showcase the city’s investment pipeline and future opportunities.

The university is a key player in the regeneration of Derby city centre – both directly and indirectly.

It has an ambition to have a greater physical presence in the heart of the city – part of its ongoing commitment to the inclusive and regenerative growth of Derby.

A prime example of this is One Friar Gate Square, colloquially known as ‘The Copper Building’, in Ford Street, which is home to the university’s School of Law and Social Sciences.

Recently, the university unveiled its vision to build a new, iconic business school, directly opposite.

Set to open in September 2024, the building is projected to be the study base for over 6,000 students by 2030.

These investments are helping to create a thriving student community in the heart of the city – and led to the creation of major student apartment schemes.

When the university unveiled its vision for the new business school, Professor Omoteso said: “Our ambitious plans for an iconic new business school, located in the centre of Derby, are part of a broader vision to expand the university’s reach and reputation across the UK and globally.”

Registrations are now open for the Derby Property Summit, which this year will be a hybrid event.

Once again, business journalist Declan Curry will assume hosting duties – and will be joined by speakers, including Derby City Council chief executive Paul Simpson, as well as a representative from St James Securities and Cale Street.

The networking element will take place in the award-winning Market Place Al Fresco Dining Experience, with the conference held in the comfort of the QUAD cinema.

For safety and to facilitate quality networking, numbers will be limited to 120 delegates attending in person, with unlimited numbers online.

Tickets to the live event and face-to-face networking area are limited to event sponsors. To find out more about sponsorship opportunities e-mail Katie Wells at katie.wells@marketingderby.co.uk.
