Clowes has sold the 4.7-acre Milford Mills site to Chevin, which has already applied for permission to demolish some of the factory buildings, while retaining all the historic features, including the mill building, a 40-metre chimney and village school.

Clowes bought Milford Mills, which adjoins the River Derwent on the A6 between Duffield and Belper, several years ago.

During its ownership, the mill has been utilised for office, retail, and warehouse purposes.

Additionally, there has been a car wash business located in the car park, a turbo electric company occupying the turbine house and Derbyshire County Council has established Milford Primary School within the grounds of this historic site.

Chevin has said it hopes to start work on the regeneration of the site later this year.
