An NHS trust has taken delivery of a new fleet of hybrid-powered cars built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK’s Derbyshire factory.

Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust ordered 24 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports to support its hospital operations.

The cars, which are built at the manufacturer’s plant at Burnaston, are currently being used to transport patients to and from appointments.

Powered by Toyota’s 1.8-litre self-charging petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, the new fleet is expected to cover a combined distance of more than 1.8 million miles over the next five years.

Joanna Dongworth, from the Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust, said: “We are very pleased with our new Toyota hybrids.

“Our drivers like them and Toyota did a fantastic job preparing them to our required specification.”
