Pennine Healthcare has fulfilled a contract to supply almost 100,000 face coverings, manufactured in Derby, to an aerospace firm.

The firm has provided the coverings to aerospace and defence products specialists Collins Aerospace Systems.

Pennine Healthcare supplied the firm after partnering up with the Cabinet Office to help in the fight against Covid-19.

Collins, which is based in Wolverhampton, placed the order to help protect those staff who cannot effectively work from home during the pandemic.

Millions of coverings can be produced on a weekly basis at Pennine Healthcare, which are tested and approved by the British Standards Institution.

Chief executive Luke Fryer said: “I’m delighted that Collins Aerospace placed their trust in us and we were able to fulfil their order on time to help keep their workforce safe.

“The face coverings are made on-site, here at Pennine, and we’re only a handful of businesses able to produce the coverings here in the UK – with specialised machinery now installed in our clean room.

“We will continue to supply both public and private sector buyers, while also stocking face coverings and other PPE products on our consumer website www.arma-health.com.”

Ben Madoc, from Collins Aerospace, said: “The health and wellbeing of our employees, and their families, remains our top priority.

“In addition to the UK Government requirements, we have implemented additional Covid-19 precautionary measures for all of our workforce, including those employees unable to work from home – the face coverings supplied by Pennine Healthcare have been a key part of those measures.”
