Clowes secures planning for new office scheme

Clowes Developments has secured planning permission for a new office block at Castle Donington.

The firm, which is based at Ednaston, near Ashbourne, has been granted detailed planning consent for the 10,000 sq ft, two-storey development at EMDC.

The build will allow for either entire or split occupancy across the two floors at 5,000 sq ft each on either a leasehold or freehold basis, with inquiries being taken by joint agents FHP Property Consultants and Savills.

The standalone plot of 0.6 acres sits directly opposite Redrow Homes’ head office, with a design that aims to mirror the external aesthetics and complement each other harmoniously.

According to Clowes, with many businesses re-evaluating their future requirements for space, the new development could allow a firm to down-size to accommodate fewer staff working from the office environment, while still providing a facility for meetings, staff welfare, flexible working arrangements and convenience.

The unit also presents an option for investors who are seeking an opportunity to be part of the EMDC business park, which is home to a huge M&S distribution centre.

Paul Shanley, director at Clowes Developments, said: “With excellent links to the UK’s main arterial motorway (the M1), close proximity to East Midlands Airport for commercial passenger and logistical flights, and a stone’s throw away from the newly developed East Midlands Parkway railway station, EMDC is an excellent spot for businesses looking to relocate.

“This combined with our experience of building quality developments across the UK makes this particular build ideal for occupiers looking for a prestigious office and investors looking for a small pension fund opportunity.”
