A production, testing and office facility is scheduled for completion in Winter 2016 at Bondholder Bombardier's Derby Plant where it will fulfil the order for London's Crossrail Project.

Bombardier has awarded Balfour Beatty a £12.5 million contract to build the 250m by 40m structure.

“We have been working very closely with our customer to ensure we fulfil their exacting requirements whilst maintaining value for money and we look forward to assisting Bombardier in achieving their vision”
— Peter Commins, Managing Director for the North West at Balfour Beatty

Housing four tracks accessible from either end, each track will be able to handle a ten-car track with full-length inspection pits and overhead electrification supported by an upgrade to the site's power supply. The two-storey annexe shall also include office space.
