Jenson Button Announces Derby Race Plans
Formula One driver Jenson Button will be racing in Derby this summer, it has been announced this morning at our Marketing Derby Bondholder Breakfast with Bondholder HUUB.
Though he will be racing in Derby, Jenson will be joining fellow fitness enthusiasts and competing in a triathlon which incorporates swimming, cycling and running, at Markeaton Park on Sunday 12th July.
Previously held in Luton, the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon has been relocated to Derby thanks to local entrepreneur Dean Jackson, founder of award-winning wetsuit designers, HUUB.
More than 1,000 competitors will enter an eliminator round in the morning which includes a 300 metre swim in the lake at Markeaton Park; a 9km road bike race around the city and surrounding area and then a 2.5km run starting and finishing in the park.
The top 50 competitors will then battle it out in a further afternoon competition with the remaining entrants joining in the Wooden Spoon final.
All of the proceeds will go to Cancer Research – the nominated charity of the Jenson Button Trust.
