Revamp with Enthusiasm

Bondholder Enthusiasm has been awarded funding from Sport England to revamp a multi-use games area (MUGA) in Allenton, Derby.

The MUGA benefitted from a DIY SOS makeover nearly 11 years ago but, since then, finding resources specific to maintaining the MUGA has been challenging.

Heather Russo, Head of Service at Enthusiasm Trust stated: “This outdoor space revamp means that young people attending our provision can play safely and express themselves, extremely important for those who have suffered Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). It opens accessibility to young people we are trying to reach and enables us to start building trusting relationships. Our approach takes a long term view of supporting them into positive prospects.

“For us at Enthusiasm, this plays a critical role regarding early intervention specific to youth violence and exploitation. Outdoor spaces are critical in a time of social distancing and Covid”.

Local councillor for Allenton, Nadine Peatfield said: “In the midst of Covid, young people still need to play, have fun, socialise and have positive interactions. It is important for their mental health and for us as a City. Well done Enthusiasm for their hard work to make this happen, a huge benefit for the local area”.
