Bondholder Breakfast: An Audience with Sir John Timpson CBE

Following last year's incredible Bondholder Derby Book Festival event with John McAvoy, this year we have the privilege of welcoming Sir John Timpson CBE, whose book Upside Down Management
will be brought to life at this breakfast event not to be missed.

Sir John Timpson CBE is the chairman and owner of Timpson, which has over 2000 UK outlets specialising in shoe repairs, key cutting and engraving, as well as dry cleaning and photo processing.

John Timpson's philosophy is  "If you treat people well, it is blindingly obvious that they will do a good job."

The business has won countless awards, and has been in the top 10 of The Sunday Times '100 best companies to work for' every time it has entered. The company has a policy of employing ex-prisoners and runs pre-release  training in several prisons.

John and his wife Alex had three children, adopted two more and fostered another 90 and he was knighted in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to business and fostering.

Copies of John's book will be available to purchase at the event (Cash transactions only).

There is availability for 150 Bondholders, therefore this event will be restricted to two complimentary tickets per Bondholder company. However, additional tickets can be purchased at £8.00 each online at the Festival website, or in person from the Festival Box Office at QUAD. Bondholder Breakfast: Mazars

mazaars.jpg

Marketing Derby Bondholder Mazars, in conjunction with Bondholder Connect Derby, is delighted to invite fellow Bondholders to a breakfast event focusing on Research and Development (R&D) tax reliefs.

R&D tax credits are a valuable government tax relief that rewards UK companies for investing in innovation. Companies that spend money developing new products, processes or services are eligible for a cash payout or Corporation Tax reduction.

Mazars, one of Europe's largest accounting firms, with 300 offices worldwide, believes that many businesses actually have activities and expenditure that qualifies for the relief and encourages all Bondholders to come along and see if they are eligible.

Following an arrival breakfast, the experts from Mazars will walk Bondholders through the rules which are far more generous than most businesses perceive and will explain which sectors can benefit.

There will be ample opportunity to ask any questions during the morning.

Hotpod Yoga Derby

Marketing Derby Bondholder Hotpot Yoga Derby is delighted to invite fellow Bondholders to join them in celebrating its 1st birthday with a yoga practice in the famous purple pod. Many Bondholders have come to love the practices, and classes have increased from 9 per week to a mind-boggling 33 to cope with the demand of Derby folk looking for some time-out from their busy lives.

The 20 person inflatable pod is heated to 37 degrees to supercharge the yoga experience and afterwards, your mind will be a little calmer; your body a little looser, and yes – you’ll be a whole lot sweatier.

Many Bondholders have requested a class to introduce them to Hotpod Yoga so here is your opportunity to try it for yourself in a relaxed and fun environment and all ages and abilities will be welcome.

Join the Founder of the Derby franchise, Leah McLaren, in the pod for a one hour class which will be followed by cupcakes to toast their first birthday and a chance to find out more about how the classes can benefit you.

There will be two classes to accommodate as many as possible so please respond in the normal way and note your preferred date in the additional notes section.

The Future of Rail in Derby and Beyond

Rail continues to be one of the UK's major growth sectors, with multi-billion pound investment planned to support continued passenger demand.  The agenda reaches from new rail franchises and massive investment in Derby station, to the hot debates on electrification and HS2.

Derby is one of the best rail-connected cities in the UK and remains home to Europe's largest rail cluster - the only UK city where trains can be designed, developed, built, tested and maintained.  Competition is growing, as more companies are attracted into the UK and pressure builds on the skills requirement.

Marketing Derby is partnering with the East Midlands Chamber to hold a Derby business consultation session, where the strengths, assets and opportunities that exist within rail - for passengers, customers and suppliers - will be explored to develop a Derby-based perspective on the big issues.
