Take Aim

Take Aim is a family bar and activity centre opening in the heart of Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, at 2-4 The Strand. The venue takes its inspiration from the British country house, pairing a relaxed bar and food offer with modern, tech-led activities: simulated clay shooting & putting all in a safe, social setting with no live firearms.

We sit in the leisure and hospitality sector, often described as “competitive socialising”. Our customers are families looking for something different to do together at weekends, groups of friends, and Derby’s corporate community, from team socials and client entertaining to private hire. Until now, businesses wanting organised group entertainment have often had to travel to Nottingham or Birmingham; Take Aim gives them a reason to stay and spend in Derby.

Take Aim is led by Terence and Nicola Smith. Terence is a Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA CGMA) with a career at Rolls-Royce and JCB, and Nicola brings 15 years of senior operations experience, including as COO of Derby-based X-Lab. We also operate The Escape RG, an escape room on Iron Gate, so we are already part of the Cathedral Quarter community.We are delighted to welcome Take Aim to the Bondholder community.

As a new leisure business with a strong corporate events offer, the Bondholder community is also a natural fit: we would like to get to know other Bondholders, host them at the venue, and help showcase Derby as a great place to live, work and spend time.
