Surtal Arts

Surtal Arts is an exciting charitable arts organisation specialising in South Asian culture and heritage, through dance, music and festivals. Our programme features original contemporary and cross-cultural performances that enrich people’s lives.

For over thirty years we’ve enabled Derby and the East Midlands to celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and unlock creative potential. We nurture grassroots talent through mentorship and enrichment programmes for children and young people. We pride ourselves on our work connecting with communities in areas including Arboretum, Normanton, Sinfin, Abbey, Alvaston and Derwent.

We create the annual Derby Season of Light, a city-wide festival including lantern making workshops in schools across Derby, and spectacular Lantern Parade celebrations in the City Centre.

We offer bespoke arts, education and community partnership packages for local businesses.
