Communities & charity

me&dee charity

me&dee charity, based in Melbourne, South Derbyshire, supports children and families facing life-changing and uncertain futures due to complex, often terminal, health diagnoses.

Founded in 2006 by myself, following personal experiences of severe illness, we exist to help families create precious memories together – memories that last far beyond the time they may have left.  Our approach is personal, wraparound and continuous. Rather than providing one-off experiences, we focus on building lasting relationships that support families throughout their journey.

We create opportunities for families to spend quality time together and build precious memories. This has been established not only through individual memory-making experiences, but also through our programme of ‘Continuing Care’ which builds on feedback from families to organise sessional activities tailored to evidenced needs within the local community.

Our support reduces isolation, builds confidence and creates peer networks, bringing moments of joy and normality to families in crisis. Families tell us our support helps them manage their grief, reduces anxiety and gives them something positive to focus on during the darkest periods of their lives.

Hidden away on the back of an industrial estate in the village of Melbourne, gives us a lack of visibility. Much of our work is around the support we give to families living in and around Derby, to the Royal Derby Hospital children’s wards, neonatal unit and mortuary.

We pride ourselves on building relationships, encouraging CSR and believe that we can offer benefits from our charity to the wider audience of Bondholders. We look forward to being part of the vibrant and fascinating growth of Derby and learning more first-hand, about all that this brings to those of us living and working in Derby.
