Selling from the city

Denby Pottery

Still on the same site where the pottery was founded in 1809 and nestled next to the original seam of clay, Denby’s ethos for sustainable and responsible production has been at the heart of the pottery for over 200 years.

Using traditional hand-crafting techniques and time-honoured skills, each piece passes through at least 20 pairs of hands before it gets the Denby stamp of approval, so when you choose Denby, you’re choosing items with purpose and soul; which are made-to-last, versatile, beautiful and durable ceramics and homeware which is a truly conscious choice.

Denby has won two industry Awards over recent months for its new designs and from striking contemporary ranges and much loved classic patterns to giftware and accessories, Denby is the perfect choice for any occasion. Employing 480 people locally Denby is exported to over 40 countries and has it own offices and warehouses in the USA, South Korea and more recently Shanghai, China.

Visitors are welcomed to Denby Pottery Village, adjacent to the pottery itself, which now offers new Denby bookable experiences, from learning how pottery is made, painting or throwing your own pot to immersing yourself in Denby’s Museum. There is a quality Farm Shop and of course, Denby Factory Shop and two eateries – Bourne’s Bistro & Coffee Shop and Ginger Cooks Café.

We are fortunate to have Marketing Derby who are not only ambassadors for the county, raising the profile of the city, attracting investment but also bringing local businesses together and keeping us informed.

Hayley Baddiley, Denby’s Global Marketing Director adds: “Derby is a continually developing city with great facilities and cultural activities, with the added benefit of being close to the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and its many unique tourist attractions.“
