For almost a quarter of a century, housebuilder Chevin Homes has been delivering quality homes in quality locations in and around Derby. Here, in his own words, director Dan Stack explains why Derby provides the perfect place to deliver its award-winning properties.

Derby has historically had a strong residential property market which has been underpinned by excellent employment opportunities and being centrally located with good road and rail links.

Over time strong demand has resulted in the need for more and different types of housing for people working in the area and for those using it as a base to travel further afield.

The knock-on effect has been increased investment in education and leisure facilities situated within suburban and semi-rural locations around the edge of the city, which has in turn helped establish a wide range of facilities in these locations.

The trend to spend time in suburban centres rather than city centres has allowed established suburbs and villages to expand due to the increased footfall resulting in more cafes, bars and restaurants to open along with providing a demand for leisure facilities to cater for the locality.

This has resulted in suburbs such as Allestree, Mickleover, Duffield, Belper and Littleover continuing to thrive along with various others.

Derby is also blessed with its proximity to the Peak District National Park and the abundance of open countryside on the doorstep for many, which is the envy of many other cities in the UK.

These factors have helped Derby and Derbyshire buck national trends and resulted in the local property market remaining resilient even in times of national uncertainty by virtue of the amount of quality locations available to buyers from within and outside of the area.

Quality locations have always been a key factor for Chevin Homes when selecting sites for development ever since it was established in 2002.

This has resulted in Chevin becoming an award-winning developer drawn to the high-quality suburbs of the city and the surrounding areas.

Accordingly, Chevin are currently developing sites in Mickleover, Borrowash and Belper with further sites coming in 2027.

Construction is currently underway at two Chevin developments in Mickleover.

At New House Farm there is a range of contemporary bungalows together with charming farmyard barn conversions along with the renovation of the existing farmhouse.

At Manor Farm, the stunning farmhouse and lodge are the final properties to be sold, and which will be completed before the end of the year.

Despite the property market being more subdued than it has been in recent years, we are still seeing strong levels of interest and demand for high-quality properties in excellent locations.

Value for money and the desire for something different are key considerations for potential buyers.

As a result, Chevin offer properties ranging from small cottages, bungalows, family homes, barn conversions and Farmhouses, all on small individual developments to cater for this demand.

In addition, a high specification Chevin home comes as standard, including fully fitted kitchens, branded appliances, boiling hot water taps, high-quality tiling and sanitaryware.

Flooring throughout, a turfed garden and EV car chargers are also all included as standard.

Building a quality home in a quality location have been the long-standing principles of Chevin Homes, and Derby is the perfect place to deliver it.
