Bowmer + Kirkland has picked up a national award recognising its pioneering work to decarbonise construction site operations by using battery technology across its crane fleet.

It has recently been named the winner of the Planet Mark Action and Innovation Award 2026.

The award, which celebrates the organisation achieving the greatest percentage reduction in absolute carbon emissions as evidenced through its Planet Mark certification report, will be presented at the Planet Mark Sustainability Summit in London on 3 November.

The judging panel praised Bowmer + Kirkland’s innovative approach to reducing construction site emissions by moving tower cranes away from conventional diesel power and maximising the use of 100% battery technology.

The initiative has delivered significant fuel savings while helping to reduce the company’s carbon emissions.

Daniel Birkinshaw, sustainability manager at Bowmer + Kirkland, said: “I’m pleased that our crane team have been recognised for their efforts in supporting our net zero carbon journey.

“The team continues to innovate and explore new technology applications that help drive down our reliance on fossil fuels across our construction sites.”
