Hotel showcases enhanced meeting facilities as part of £5m investment
Holiday Inn – Riverlights has showcased its enhanced meeting facilities by hosting a recent Marketing Derby board meeting.
The hotel, situated in the heart of Derby city centre, recently invested in its facilities, which include the all-new ‘The Engine Room’ restaurant and bar and new meeting rooms.

Located within the hotel, The Engine Room, which marks its first anniversary at the end of this month, is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, offering seasonal small plates, hand stretched pizzas, indulgent desserts and cocktails.
It also offers private dining, which can be reserved for intimate gatherings, providing guests with a contemporary atmosphere perfect for celebratory meals, business dinners, and special occasions.
Its industrial chic design is reflected in the hotel’s all-new mezzanine meeting rooms.
The rooms are all named after some of Derby’s most famous people: Florence Nightingale, Alice Wheeldon and Joseph Wright.
The Florence Nightingale is the largest of the rooms, with a capacity for up to 60 guests.
The room can be subdivided into the Alice Wheeldon (up to 20 guests) and Joseph Wright (up to 16 guests).
As well as providing a place to meet, the hotel also offers a range of services, such as WiFi, meeting registration, printing, same-day dry cleaning and catering.
Holiday Inn – Riverlights also helps plan events by offering creative meeting and event concept consultations.
But the hotel’s ambitions do not stop there – as general manager Sarah Kenny explained to Marketing Derby’s board members while giving an update on the progress of its £5 million investment.

She said that 21 new suites were being created to meet demand for longer term stays, particularly from business visitors
Meanwhile, a further 30 new bedrooms on the fourth floor of the hotel are currently being fitted out – 11 of which will be suites.
She added that, in due course, the hotel would be rebranded to become a voco premium four-star hotel.
Kathryn Allen, chief operating officer at Marketing Derby, said: “We would like to thank the team at Holiday Inn – Riverlights for hosting us for our recent board meeting.
“The hotel’s upgraded meeting facilities are superb. Investments like this really enhance Derby city centre’s offering for business tourists requiring overnight stays and high quality conferencing, and help bring additional footfall and spend into the heart of the city.”
