Boost for initiative to help people be more active
A coalition of organisations led by Community Action Derby aimed at getting people more active is to benefit from a community scheme launched by a leisure operator.
Everyone Active, which runs Moorways Sports Village in partnership with Derby City Council, launched Community Champions last year to support projects which are tackling local issues and changing lives.
The successful applicant in Derby this year is DE23 Active, a coalition of community organisations led by Community Action Derby, with the mission of helping people in Normanton and Arboretum get active.

As a result, DE23 Active will secure valuable use of facilities within Moorways Sports Village, to help it carry out its work.
Helen Britten, programme lead at Community Action Derby, said: “We’re delighted that DE23 Active has been selected as an Everyone Active Community Champion.
“This support will help us continue providing opportunities that make it easier for people in Normanton and Arboretum to get active in ways that work for them.
“Working closely with residents and our partner organisations, we’ve developed activities that respond to the needs of the community, including our popular women-only swimming sessions at Moorways Sports Village.
“We’re looking forward to building on that success and helping even more people enjoy the benefits of being active.”
