Three directors at Morrison Design proved they are prepared to take one for the team after a charity fundraiser ended with all of them receiving a custard pie to the face.

The Derby-based architectural practice invited colleagues, clients and business contacts to vote for which director they most wanted to see pied, with every vote helping to raise money for the firm’s charity of the year, Ménière’s & Vestibular UK.

After a closely fought contest, director Nik Clarke topped the public vote.

But in a surprise twist, a generous donation meant all three directors – Nik, David Gardner and Peter Newman-Earp – ended up in the firing line.

The fundraiser is one of several activities Morrison Design is organising this year to support Ménière’s and Vestibular UK, a charity that provides support and raises awareness for people living with vestibular conditions, hearing loss and balance disorders.

Peter said: “When we came up with the idea, I don’t think any of us expected quite how competitive the voting would become.

“It was all in good spirits, and if getting covered in custard helps raise money for such an important charity, then it’s a small price to pay.”
